Record National Lottery Sales

Last Updated: Thursday 5th December 2013, 13:19

Lotteries in the UK such as the Lotto and the EuroMillions have always been played by a large number of people however over the past six months this number has increased dramatically. With the recession looming over everyone it seems as though players have turned to the lottery because figures revealed today show record National Lottery sales. Over the past six months players have spent more than £3.5 billion on tickets which is an increase of £264 million from last year.

This record lottery sales comes at a time when people are wanting to escape their financial woes in the recession and win a lottery jackpot. Out of the £3.5 billion that was spent on lottery tickets over the past six months a record £1.8 billion was paid out in prize money.

There have been a considerable amount of Lotto winners over the past six months as the Lotto jackpot has rolled over a few times which means that almost every Lotto draw had a jackpot winner. However, one of the biggest UK lottery jackpot wins this year came from the EuroMillions when lucky couple Adrian and Gillian Bayford scooped the impressive £148 million in August.

If you fancy becoming one of the UK lottery jackpot winners then look no further than tonight’s Lotto draw as there is a jackpot estimated at £2.2 million on offer to win and as the Lotto jackpot has been won for the past two draws it will be interesting to see if any players will become the third Lotto jackpot winners tonight.
