Scratchcard Snippets

Last Updated: Tuesday 22nd June 2010, 13:56

Scratchcard games have hit the headlines recently, and for a couple of reasons. In Michigan, a scratchcard player was lucky enough to win a top prize of $1 million, whilst here in the UK it has been announced that a slew of new National Lottery scratchcards will be released over the next few weeks.

A Michigan Lottery player who has requested anonymity recently bought a Million Dollar Madness game card from a store in Bay City. The game first went on sale on 29 August, 2008, and costs $10. That might sound like a lot of money for a scratchcard, but it offers five separate games, gives players a 1 in 3.05 chance of winning any prize, and boasts eleven top prizes of $1 million, which the Michigan Lottery says is the most ever in a lottery game of this type.

For the player who has asked to remain anonymous, her $10 investment paid off handsomely. She won the first top prize and no doubt started feeling a bit of her own Million Dollar Madness when she realised that she had scratched her way to a fortune. With ten more $1 million prizes left to be won, Michigan Lottery players will be keen to play this particular game for a while yet.

Those of us who are in the UK might not be able to participate in the Million Dollar Madness game, but we can look forward to a bunch of new National Lottery scratchcards being released over the next few weeks. These include a Lots of Luck! game that involves finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, a 7 Times Lucky game with a top prize of £77,777 and a Cash Cauldron game that will give us all something to play as we get closer to Halloween.
