Skipton Lotto Winner Plans to Buy Plane after Scooping £2.2 Million

Last Updated: Friday 25th September 2015, 09:38

A North Yorkshire couple are looking forward to enjoying a high-flying lifestyle after coming forward to collect a £2.2 million Lotto win. Peter and Claire Occardi, from Skipton, both plan to set up businesses and he is set to splash out on a plane after getting his pilot’s licence earlier in the summer. They matched the winning numbers drawn on Wednesday 16th September to grab a fortune all for themselves.

Peter had previously been thinking about getting a share in a light aircraft, but his lottery win gives him the opportunity to fulfil his dreams. “Instead, I think I'll buy myself one,” he said. “Nothing too fancy, just something with two wings. A lot of people would be buying an Aston Martin but I'll be buying something with two wings."

A design engineer who is originally from Glasgow, Peter also revealed that he had begun to call his wife ‘Rodney’ in reference to the character from Only Fools And Horses and the show’s running theme of trying to become millionaires. Like the Trotter brothers, Peter and his wife have plenty of ideas about how to make money and they intend to carry on working. He said: “Claire really wants to go into property and business coaching and I've always wanted to set up my own manufacturing business, and now I can.”

The greatest joy for the couple comes from knowing that they can provide their son with the best possible upbringing, and Peter is thankful that his method of picking numbers paid off. He explained: “I’m a bit of a geek and I used a scientific calculator to generate random numbers. It’s an electronic means of picking the numbers out of a hat.”

You can follow Peter’s example and use the Lotto Number Generator to pick your line for tomorrow night’s draw, when a jackpot of  £4.9 million will be available. There was a rollover on Wednesday evening but the top prize had been won in the previous six draws. Find out all the Lotto Results and a breakdown of the prizes won.

Make sure to pick up tickets for Saturday’s draw, either by playing online like the Occardis or by visiting an authorised retailer in the UK. Check back on National-Lottery.com for the results and if you are lucky enough to win you too could purchase a plane or even track down a three-wheeled yellow van like in Only Fools and Horses. Best of luck!
