Halifax Jigsaw Fans Find Missing Piece To Puzzle With EuroMillions Win

Last Updated: Friday 23rd March 2018, 09:23

A husband and wife from Halifax are looking to buy the world’s biggest jigsaw after winning £1 million on EuroMillions. Lesley White and her husband Malcolm met in a jigsaw shop nearly 20 years ago and have now been able to celebrate finding the final piece to their puzzle after the huge lottery win gave them long-term financial security.

The happy couple matched one of the winning Millionaire Maker codes on Tuesday 6th March and were this week presented with their cheque at a media call at Holdsworth House. The news is still sinking in, but Lesley and Malcolm are already making big plans for the future.

She has already handed in her notice at the factory where she works, while he plans to scale back his hours as an engineer so he can spend more time watching his beloved Yorkshire County Cricket Club. One of Malcolm’s ideas is to purchase the world’s largest jigsaw which, according to Puzzle Warehouse, is currently a 40,320 Ravensburger piece which showcases 10 of Disney’s greatest moments and measures 22.3 x 6 feet.

Disney World

As huge Disney fans, Lesley and Malcolm are also keen to take their daughter on a trip to Disney World in Florida. Malcolm said: “There are a few things we'd like to take care of, but she's very excited about that. It's every child's dream, isn't it? Ever since The Wonderful World of Disney was on the telly 30 years ago. We're going to go for three weeks and do it properly.”

Lesley and Malcolm do not want to move out of their four-bed bungalow, as ‘it’d be too much of a hassle’ and ‘it’s close to the school and the local shop’, but she has set her eyes on a new car. She said: “It is fantastic to be in a position where I can go out and road test several and decide which one is my favourite and not be driven by budget.”

While they fully intend to enjoy their money, Lesley and Malcolm have always watched their money closely and have admitted that some habits will be hard to break. He said: “I found a penny on the pavement after we won and picked it up. It's still in my jacket!”

How Millionaire Maker Works

Millionaire Maker creates two new millionaires in the UK in every EuroMillions draw. Everyone who buys a ticket is automatically entered into the game, with a unique code generated on their entry at the point of purchase. Two codes are then selected at random on the night, and the participants with matching tickets instantly win £1 million each.

If you want to win your own big EuroMillions prize, there is a  jackpot of £32 million up for grabs in tonight’s draw. You can choose numbers online or go to any authorised retailer. Good luck!
