Time Running Out for Birmingham EuroMillions Winner To Claim Prize
Last Updated: Thursday 29th January 2026, 11:58
A EuroMillions prize worth £1 million is set to go unclaimed in a matter of days, unless the ticket holder finally comes forward before the deadline of 11th February.
The prize dates back to the Millionaire Maker raffle on 15th August 2025, when the code VLPL 28287 was randomly selected as the winner. The player with the matching ticket has yet to stake a claim, and time is now almost up.
The ticket was bought in Birmingham, and the National Lottery has issued an urgent appeal to try and jog memories before the ticket expires.
Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, the operator of the National Lottery, said: "Were you in or around Birmingham in the week leading up to the 15 August draw? Maybe it isn’t even a local winner - did you visit the area for the day and play Lotto - did you return home and stash it somewhere safe?”
Carter continued: “Have a think back to what you were doing on that date, as I want nothing more than to unite the winner with their prize money. Tell your friends, check your pockets, check your tickets, as it could be you!”
All National Lottery prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the draw date, regardless of their value. If time runs out, the prize money (plus all the interest generated), goes to help National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.
The vast majority of prizes are claimed in time, but some big jackpots have ended up slipping away from the winner. There are a few reasons why this can happen, but most likely it is because players forget to check their tickets in time.
Another possibility is that tickets get lost or damaged. If this ever happens to you, it is important to submit an appeal to the National Lottery within 30 days of the draw so they can investigate whether you are entitled to the prize.
