Many players were vying last night to win that massive double rollover jackpot on the UK National Lottery but with all the unclaimed prizes showing on the National Lottery website maybe players should actually just be spending a little longer checking lottery tickets they have already purchased. As the New Year begins, we at National Lottery are astounded at the amount of unclaimed prizes so here are some of the unclaimed prizes of 2009 to serve as a little reminder.

The first of the unclaimed lottery prizes to expire is one the winner will need to be quick for. It’s worth over £60,000 and runs out on January 11th so if you have a lottery tickets purchased in the Dumfries and Galloway area for 15th July draw then double check those numbers now.

That’s one of the smallest lottery prizes to be claimed, just after that on January 20th a Euromillions prize worth over quarter of a million expires to go into the fund for good causes. This ticket was sold in the Tower Hamlets area of London and it’s one of the biggest lottery prizes unclaimed right now.

On January 28th the final unclaimed lottery prize for January expires, this one also matched five main balls and the bonus and is worth over £100,000. Sold in the Plymouth area this UK Lotto prize will be going to good causes if not claimed very soon.

That’s just the unclaimed prizes for January, there are many more including one worth over £3 million. So make a New Years resolution to dig round the house for all those old lottery tickets and check those numbers against the old results right now as you may be sitting on a fortune and not even know it.
