Happy Birthday UK Lotto

We’ve been writing about UK Lottery birthday celebrations for almost a month now and after what must have been the longest party in history it’s time to say Happy Birthday UK Lotto as it finally reaches its fifteenth birthday. It’s hard to imagine life before the lottery now, but think back fifteen years and the idea seemed both unique and amazing.
Fifteen years later and things have changed, we’ve got used to the UK Lotto and it’s become as big a part of our lives as a comfy armchair. That’s not to say we don’t love it and it only takes a couple of big rollovers as we’ve seen in the last few weeks to discover why it is that we love the UK Lotto so much.
Back in November 1994 it was impossible to imagine what the lottery was going to be like, viewing figures for the draws were high and everyone believed they were going to be the next Lotto millionaire.
Of course fifteen years have passed and while not so many players actually watch the draw on BBC1 that isn’t because the lottery is more popular, it’s just because many just check their lottery numbers online. The internet revolution has given us many things and now has allowed the UK Lotto to grow with everything from playing scratchcards to buying lotto tickets online available to players.
Who knows where technology will have taken the lottery in the next fifteen years. Maybe we’ll just have to ‘think’ our numbers and our brains will be linked directly to banking and the internet. Who knows? One thing is for sure though, the UK Lotto is still as fresh and popular now as it was fifteen years ago!
