Irish Lottery Jackpot Estimated at €8 Million After Nine Rollovers

Last Updated: Tuesday 7th August 2012, 09:11

Irish Lottery rolloverAlthough the Irish Lottery jackpots never quite reach the impressive heights that the Euromillions lottery often produces this is attributed to the lower number matrix used for the Irish Lotto; players are required to pick 6 from 45 when playing this games and the odds of winning the jackpot are substantially better at 1 in 8,145,060 in comparison to the Euromillions which are 1 in 116,531,800. It really depends on how much you are looking to win, surely €8 million is enough?

For this reason it's quite exciting to see the Irish Lottery jackpot at an estimated €8 million are nine rollover draws - something we haven't seen happen since March this year!

Last night's Irish Lotto draw produced the numbers 1,  2, 10, 12, 27, 36 and a bonus ball number 11. Interestingly enough two of the numbers that came out appear as two of the six most common drawn numbers since the rule chance back in November 2006 when the Irish Lottery changed from a 6/42 to a 6/45 game. The number 12 has been drawn seventy-two times since this date whilst the number 2 has been out an impressive eighty-two times!

Of course as with all lotteries it really is a case of "luck of the draw" or in this case the "luck of the Irish" although buying tickets for the Irish Lotto is not restricted to residents of the Emerald Isle.

Although there were no jackpot winners who managed to match six main numbers we saw double the numbers of winners on the lower prize tier Match 5 and the bonus - four managed to scoop €25,000 on last night's draw in comparison with just two on Saturday's draw and two on the previous midweek draw.
