Irish Lottery Jackpot at €7 million After Eight Rollovers

Last Updated: Tuesday 7th August 2012, 09:09

Irish LotteryTomorrow see’s the Irish Lotto jackpot at its highest total in quite some time after eight rollover draws. With nobody winning the jackpot of €6,314,037 on last Saturday night's draw someone now has the chance to walk away with the Irish Lotto estimated prize fund of €7 million. It was back in March of this year that the prize fund reached this amount so tonight and then continued to roll to an impressive jackpot of €14,037,236 when two winners shared the prize pool by matching six main draw numbers.

The current Irish Lotto jackpot started to roll early in August and ever since then no one has picked the right combination of numbers to scoop the jackpot.

The Irish Lotto game offers a minimum jackpot of €2 million for each draw and because there are only 45 balls in play the odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 8,145,060 compared to a lottery like Euromillions where the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 116,531,800. Draws take place twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday and it can be seen that more people are buying tickets to play the Irish Lotto at the weekend. The lower prize tier jackpots available range from €5.00 to €25,000 and these prize levels appear to have more winners on a Saturday than on a Wednesday.

The Irish Lotto was launched in 1987 and its rollover rule makes it possible for the Irish Lotto jackpot to soar to a high amount. The biggest win on the Irish Lotto was a jackpot worth €18,963,441 and was won by a syndicate of sixteen players, all of which worked at a quarry and concrete plant in County Carlow.

Remember to check the Irish Lotto results after the draw takes place tomorrow to see if a) you are a winner or b) the jackpot is rolled.
