A lifelong fan of Liverpool football club has scored in the National Lottery by winning a share of the jackpot for Wednesday 27 June worth £891,682.

Marcus Lewis is a 41 year old railway engineer from Wrexham , and he intends to put the top slice of his new-found fortune to good use by investing in a Liverpool FC season ticket.

Marcus is married to Amanda they have four children between the ages of 13 and 20. He discovered his win only when he asked his local lottery retailer to check his ticket, and to describe his reaction as one of surprise would be a gross understatement.

"This is something everyone dreams of," Marcus said. "The machine told the shop assistant that it was a substantial amount of money. I just couldn't believe it when I heard how much I had won. Amanda was absolutely ecstatic when I told her. I think she'd like to buy a Mini Cooper with the money once we've got the house sorted."

Marcus bought his winning ticket from his local Spar store, and his numbers (7, 13, 23, 40, 41 and 48) were selected using the Lucky Dip feature. When asked what he was planning to do with his money apart from treating himself to a Liverpool FC season ticket, he said that a holiday and a new home were on the cards.

"I'm going to book a holiday for the whole family, in the next couple of weeks," he said. "I don't know where we will go yet but it'll be fun looking. After that, I think we will start looking for a bigger family home - at the moment, the two boys share a room, so it will be great for us all to have some more space."

With Marcus having a lucky spell right now, he'll probably be hoping that some of his good fortune helps Liverpool to have an extra special season. But whatever the results, he'll be cheering from the terraces thanks to the National Lottery!
