It’s only been five minutes since the sale of the National Lottery to the Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan but already the new owners are eyeing up new ventures around the world. The company has shown interest in the Illinois Lottery and several other lottery draws from around the world, something that would surely make them a global force both in and out of the lottery world.
The ink on the contract of the National Lottery deal is barely dry, yet the Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan are already in the final stage of bidding for the Illinois Lottery and are also rumoured to be taking interest in at least five other lottery draws from around the world.
Although it’s only the Illinois Lottery that is currently under proposal, Chief Executive Dianne Thompson has stated in her first interview since the changeover of the company who run the National Lottery that the lottery company hopes to run at least six lotteries from around the world within 10 years.
The growth would be ambitious for the lottery, to say the least but it can only mean good things for lottery players. Especially as the company who run the National Lottery were rumoured to be involved in a global lottery draw.
