Lotto Funds Debt Advice Service

There’s no doubt that people are struggling through the recession and that has meant a huge amount more people looking for debt advice. Of course this in turn puts pressure on the debt services as they handle the amount of people coming through. Now though, the lotto has given £1 million of money for good causes to help set up and run a debt advice centre in Northern Ireland.
The money, in the form of a grant from the Big Lottery Fund for good causes totals almost £1 million and will go towards a scheme helping people with debt in the Northern Ireland area by offering debt counselling in community centres and the workplace.
The centre, which will be set up with money for good causes from your lottery tickets will support people and families in financial crisis because of loss of income of changes circumstance during the recession. It should go somewhat to helping the increased number of people looking for debt advice to find the help they need.
Organisations have now been invited to tender for taking on the project which is hoped will prove a great help to families living with debt in Northern Ireland.
It’s just one way the UK Lotto gives money back to local communities and the people who play the lottery by helping communities and organisations across the UK.
This grant from the Big Lottery Fund is one of several to be given to citizens advice centres and other debt advice centres across the UK to help deal with the 150% rise in people in the UK looking for debt advice.
