Lucky Sevens for EuroMillions?
Last Updated: Wednesday 24th August 2011, 09:31 am
The EuroMillions jackpot rolled over for a seventh consecutive time on Tuesday 23 August, giving players an estimated £77 million to play for this Friday. There is nothing statistically significant about any of that, but for players who think in terms of fortunate omens and lucky numbers, the two sevens in the estimated jackpot just might be enough to inspire them to invest in an extra ticket or two – or maybe even in seven Lucky Dips!
The EuroMillions results which proved to be so tricky for players last night were 04, 06, 14, 42 and 50 and the Lucky Stars were 02 and 04. Although nobody won the jackpot itself, four players matched the five main numbers and one of the two Lucky Stars to win a second-tier prize worth £206,770 (around €313,285) each. Perhaps surprisingly, only one player matched the five main numbers only and that player (who isn’t in the UK) won an even bigger prize of €417,713, so the third-tier payout was worth more than that for the second-tier!
More than 2 million prizes were won in total in the EuroMillions draw on Tuesday, and as usual one UK player picked up a prize of £1 million by matching the Millionaire Raffle number. This time the winning number was NJZ349395.
All of that is obviously interesting, but it only serves to set the scene for an even bigger jackpot draw this Friday 26 August. Will it be ‘eighth time lucky’ for jackpot-seekers? Will you be the one to land yourself a £77 million fortune? These are questions that will have to remain unanswered until the draw takes place, but we do know one thing with absolute certainty – if you don’t buy yourself a ticket then you can’t possibly win!
