Friday night boasted a bumper jackpot of £58,162,735 for the Euromillions, over £1 million more than estimated and for a player in Switzerland, the draw numbers proved to be more than a little lucky! The numbers 1, 4, 18, 23 and 30 with the Lucky Stars 3 and 7 were chosen by one Swiss ticket holder who awoke Saturday morning some €67.9 million richer – less taxes as this is the only country that takes tax off Euromillions winnings.
With the number spread that appeared in Friday night’s draw, all the numbers below 31, it comes as no surprise to find that the jackpot was won as many players use calendar days to pick their numbers relevant to special dates like birthdays and anniversaries. As yet there are no specific details about the Swiss Euromillions winner so it is not known if the winner is an individual or a syndicate.
There were some interesting statistics from Friday night’s Euromillions results as number4 came out for the 53rd time, maintaining its position in the “Most Often Picked Numbers” category for the Euromillions numbers. The number 3 as a Lucky Star remained in this category too as it made its 104th appearance.
Switzerland last won a big jackpot on 29th July 2011 after a single rollover – this jackpot was also won by a single ticket holder and was £23,933,989 / €27,315,669 – substantially lower than the jackpot won on Friday night, although we doubt either winner was complaining about their win from the Euromillions lottery!
