£20 Million Lotto Jackpot Must Be Won on Saturday 6th March

Last Updated: Friday 5th March 2021, 10:33

A special Lotto event will take place on Saturday 6th March, with the jackpot pushed up to £20 million. It’s also a Must Be Won draw, so there’s a chance of a rolldown and bigger prizes than usual for lucky ticket holders in the lower prize tiers.

Must Be Won draws normally only take place after there have been five consecutive rollovers, as Lotto rules state the jackpot has to be given away at this point. However, Must Be Won draws are also held sometimes to mark key dates in the calendar such as Christmas.

The upcoming draw on Saturday has been scheduled to give players the opportunity to aim for the joint-largest jackpot of the year. The £20 million top prize is guaranteed to be given away, even if nobody matches all six main numbers.

If there are no tickets that match all the numbers, the jackpot will be split between everyone else who wins a prize. If you match two numbers in a rolldown, you receive £5 on top of your Lucky Dip.

A percentage of what is left of the jackpot is allocated to each of the other prize categories. If you match three numbers, for example, you could get a payout of more than £100 instead of the standard fixed £30.

EuroMillions Jackpot Cap Rises

The Lotto Must Be Won draw comes just a week after EuroMillions paid out the biggest jackpot in the history of the game.

The top prize stood as its maximum amount - €210 million (£182 million) and a single ticket holder pocketed the full amount. It was revealed after the draw that the winner came from Switzerland.

According to EuroMillions rules, the jackpot cap increases by €10 million each time the maximum amount has been won. It has subsequently been raised to €220 million, opening up the possibility that another record could be set very soon.

It was only in December that a French player won the previous record jackpot of €200 million. The highest ever win recorded in the UK has been £170 million, which came back in October 2019.

You can take part in EuroMillions every Tuesday and Friday night, while Lotto takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
