Last Updated: Monday 14th January 2013, 10:34 am
The Lotto draw which took place on Saturday night proved lucky for a number of ticket holders because the results show that eight ticket holders all matched the six numbers drawn to win the Lotto jackpot. The Lotto results from Saturday’s draw were 3, 7, 11, 12, 24, 27 and the Bonus Ball was 13. All of these numbers are fairly low and it seems a lot of ticket holders won a prize on Saturday night because there were a total of 911,749 winners.
The Lotto jackpot was originally estimated at £4 million however due to the sheer amount of winners the jackpot actually came out at £2.2 million. As there were eight ticket holders that matched the six numbers to win the jackpot it means that each winner won £278,365. In addition to that there were 39 players that matched five numbers plus the Bonus Ball to win £17,569 and then over 845,000 matched three numbers to win £10. Having eight Lotto jackpot winners to something of a rarity in the Lotto and the last time there were eight or more Lotto jackpot winners was over 15 months ago when on the 29th October 2011 eight ticket holders matched the six numbers drawn to split the £3.9 million jackpot to each win £499,682.
One of the reasons as to why there were so many winners in Saturday’s Lotto draw is that all the numbers drawn fall below 31. Many players select their Lotto numbers based on calendar events such as birthdays or anniversary’s so rarely will pick numbers above 31 which is a clue as to why there were a large number of winners in Saturday’s Lotto draw.
This Wednesday’s Lotto jackpot is estimated at £2.2 million so if you fancy following in the footsteps of one of the eight jackpot winners and matching the six numbers drawn to become a jackpot winner make sure you have your tickets ready because you never know luck could be on your side.
