Chingford Couple Come Forward as One of Five Jackpot Winners

A Chingford couple are the first to come forward to publicly claim their UK Lotto jackpot win after luck spread across the nation on Saturday 18th January. Five lucky ticket holders matched the six numbers drawn on Saturday to take home a share of the £2,708,045 UK Lotto jackpot prize. Carl and Donna Trainor, of Waltham Forest, Greater London, matched 7, 12, 23, 27, 30 and 31, to claim their £541,609 share.
Carl, 33, bought the ticket at Smokers Paradise on Old Church Road in Chingford after a streak of good fortune lead him to believe that Saturday might be his night. His wife Donna, 45, spoke of her disbelief at their win; “It was completely surreal… I couldn’t fathom it and was sure that Carl, who can be a bit of a practical joker, had set me up… I couldn’t stop saying ‘no way, no way, this can’t be happening.’”
Although the couple plan to continue working full time, and spend the majority of their winnings wisely, both are keen to indulge in a little luxury. Their Fiat Punto is to be swapped for two brand new BMW’s and Carl hopes to get the Rolex he’s only ever dreamt of. ‘You’ve got to embrace life as a Lottery winner’ said Donna, who has added a Mulberry bag to her wish list.
