Colchester Castle to Receive Lottery Funding

Last Updated: Thursday 24th September 2020, 12:38

News today from the Heritage Lottery Fund, from the National Lottery is that Colchester Castle is to receive lottery funding, a massive £3.2 million of it. We’re always advocating good causes on these pages, and this is a fantastic coup for the castle and will preserve it for generations to come. The lottery funding is part of a planned £4.2 million upgrade to the castle to refurbish the Norman building.

We see hundreds of lottery grants every single day, but not as many as big as this one. It’s a fantastic lottery project, which will help visitors understand more about the history of the roman town of Colchester, plus upgrades to the museum shop and insulation to the castle roof.

This lottery project will turn Colchester Castle into a real visitors centre and heritage attraction, preserving it for many generations to come, and it’s just one way your cash is helping to improve all sorts of projects and lives around the UK.

Since the UK National Lottery launched, £26 billion has been paid out in good causes, and that money comes from 28p in every £1 you spend on lottery tickets. You provide every single penny of this cash, in the lottery tickets you buy every week for both the UK Lotto and Euromillions draws. This means that every single lottery ticket you buy is a winner, to someone out there who benefits from the good causes funding from the sale of lottery tickets.

In other lottery news, tonight’s Euromillions jackpot is £13 million, so if you’re buying lottery tickets for the draw, do so now and good luck!
