National Lottery A garage owner and his wife are jumping for joy after matching all six Lotto numbers and winning a rollover jackpot worth £7,649,917. Eric and Sue Tarry, who live in Fakenham, won the prize on Saturday 29 November, 2008.

The Tarrys have been playing the UK National Lottery ever since it was launched in November 1994. They usually play the same set of numbers each week, but on this occasion they forget their Fast Pay card and opted for Lucky Dip entries instead.

“I was buying my papers on Saturday when the girl at the counter asked if I wanted my usual Lottery tickets,” Eric explained. “My numbers were in the car so I just went for Lucky Dips instead. It was the last of these lines that won. I am still in shock.”

Eric, who is 78 years old, found out about his win when he woke up late on the night of the draw. Deciding that he wouldn’t be able to get back to sleep for a while, he decided to check his lottery results and discovered that he was suddenly a multi-millionaire. He immediately went to wake his wife Sue, who is 56, and both of them had a sleepless night.

The couple run a garage in Fakenham and employ three people. They have said that they intend to continue running the garage despite the fact that they could easily afford to do otherwise if they wanted to.

Eric and Sue are now thinking hard about how they would like to spend and invest their lucky Lotto fortune. They haven’t come up with any firm plans just yet but they have said that they will definitely be treating their family.

We here at National-Lottery.com offer our congratulations to Eric and Sue and wish them a very merry millionaire Christmas.
