Former Chelsea Player May Help Jimmy Greaves After Winning Lotto

Last Updated: Friday 10th July 2015, 09:21 am

As Lotto fans set their sights on tomorrow night’s draw, the former footballer who scooped the £5.5 million jackpot on Saturday 4th July has revealed that he may use some of his winnings to help ex-team-mate Jimmy Greaves recover from a stroke.

Terry Bradbury and his wife matched all six main numbers drawn in last weekend’s Lotto and quickly came forward to claim their cheque. They have not yet made any firm plans over what to do with the cash as the shock is still sinking in, but Terry’s thoughts are with Greaves, who suffered a severe stroke in May. He said in the Daily Mirror: “I haven’t thought how I will spend the money, but I wouldn’t rule out helping an old team-mate who is in need.”

Terry played alongside Greaves at Chelsea during the start of his professional career in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Terry went on to play for several other clubs including Southend United and Leyton Orient, earning £25 a week as a footballer, and cannot quite believe that he has now won the lottery. Wife Ann said: "It is wonderful to think that none of our children will have a mortgage or any stress for the rest of their lives. This win provides our family with security and this is what pleases Terry and myself more than anything."

There has been a fantastic run of Lotto jackpot winners recently and, after Terry’s success last Saturday, the top prize was picked up again in Wednesday night’s draw. More than 100,000 other ticket holders pocketed cash rewards in midweek, and you can check out a full breakdown in the Results section.

Anticipation is now building to see if the jackpot can be snapped up for the sixth draw in a row tomorrow evening. There is an estimated £3.9 million up for grabs for anyone who can match all six main numbers, and if you strike it lucky you could splash out on a new home, jet off on a few luxury holidays and provide financial security for your family. Get hold of a ticket by either playing online or visiting any authorised retailer, and have fun. Best of luck!
