A Lincolnshire grandmother who has never been abroad in her life has expressed her surprise after landing a £300,000 win on a National Lottery scratchcard. She is not yet sure how she will spend the money, but does plan to celebrate with a family trip to Skegness and also wants to go to Scotland for the first time.
Liz Lindley, 68, from Horncastle, likes to play two or three times a week and she made sure husband Bryan picked up a £3 Bingo Scratchcard when he popped to the local Co-op for his daily paper. She was astonished to discover that she had won a fantastic six-figure sum and called up one of her two daughters straight away to help sort it out.
Liz added that when she told her other daughter, the first thing she said was ‘shall we scream?’ The lucky lady, who also has three grandchildren, is now looking forward to helping out everyone in her family and planning a big party for Bryan’s 80th birthday next month, although she has not had time to think about it too much yet.
She said: “I have no idea what I’ll spend the money on, all I know is that I want a chip butty in Skegness and a glass or two of champagne. I also want to go to Scotland to see the town where my father was born. I’ve never been to Scotland so this gives me the perfect opportunity. He lived there until he moved to Coningsby with the RAF where he met my mother.”
There are a range of National Lottery scratchcards currently in circulation, while millions of Lotto fans will also be eagerly awaiting Saturday night’s big draw. There is a stupendous £21.4 million jackpot up for grabs, making it the second-largest prize to have been offered all year.
If you fancy trying to snap up a Lotto prize, and perhaps even the magnificent jackpot, you can choose your numbers online or visit any authorised retailer. Good luck!
