Lotto Jackpot Rolls Over To Hit £17 Million

Last Updated: Thursday 3rd May 2018, 12:50

The Lotto jackpot for the next draw on Saturday night will be worth an impressive £17 million following a rollover on Wednesday night. Seven draws have come and gone since the top prize was last won on Saturday 7th April, and players can now look forward to trying to win one of the largest Lotto jackpots of the year.

Lotto Results

The Lotto numbers drawn on Wednesday 2nd May were 4, 8, 10, 26, 38 and 48, plus Bonus Ball 41. Although nobody won the jackpot, a single ticket holder matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to win £49,360, while over 900,000 other players picked up prizes ranging from a free Lotto Lucky Dip to £590 for matching five main numbers.

In the Lotto Millionaire Raffle, one participant won £1 million after matching the code GOLD 1335 6381, while 20 other prizes of £20,000 were also given away. Visit the Lotto Results page to see a list of the other winning Lotto Raffle codes, plus a full prize breakdown from the main Lotto game.

Big Lotto Jackpots

The Lotto jackpot is now at its highest value since Saturday 17th February, when 87-year-old Dennis Banfield and his wife Shirley became the biggest winners of the year after pocketing £18.1 million. Dennis broke down in tears at his media ceremony, expressing his delight that his daughters would be ‘financially secure forever’, and similar feelings await for fortunate players in the future.

The jackpot is now once again approaching its cap of £22 million, and just a few more rollovers would be likely to push the top prize up to the point when it has to be won. As soon as the jackpot exceeds £22 million, it can roll over just one more time and then the money must be given away in the following draw. If nobody matches all six main numbers, the jackpot rolls down to be split between players in the next winning tier.

Boosting Your Chances

If you want to increase your chances of winning Saturday’s jackpot, you could try joining forces with other players in a syndicate. A group of 15 nurses from Cleland Hospital in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, came forward this week to pick up a £1 million win on EuroMillions after pooling their resources.

They explained that they spent just £0.50 each on tickets for every draw, allowing them to save money in comparison to playing alone but also boost their chances because they were able to submit three entries rather than just one.

Speaking about the moment she found out the group had won, syndicate leader June Fraser said: “My first phone call was to my ward where I managed to get hold of two of the other members who were working. I phoned a few other members but I was just too hyper to call everyone at that point. I still went into work later that afternoon though!”

Each member of the syndicate will receive £66,666, and they are now looking forward to taking holidays, retiring early, going on cruises and buying new cars. They have also splashed out on a big batch of treats for the patients and other staff members at the hospital.

You don’t even have to go to the trouble of sorting out your own group ahead of the next big draw. You can join an online syndicate right now or visit an authorised retailer for your chance to win £17 million. Best of luck!
