Lotto Jackpot Smashes Past £20 Million Mark

Last Updated: Wednesday 11th November 2020, 12:57

The Lotto jackpot has soared beyond £20 million after another rollover on Wednesday night, giving players an opportunity to become the game’s biggest winner of the year in the next draw.

Lotto Results

The numbers drawn on Wednesday 9th May were 18, 21, 25, 30, 56 and 59, with Bonus Ball 5. Nobody won the £18.4 million jackpot, but one ticket holder matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to pick up £49,508.

There were over 700,000 other prizes given away, spanning from a free Lotto Lucky Dip for matching two main numbers to £1,628 for matching five main numbers. One participant also won £1 million after matching the code PLUM 6724 5758 in the Lotto Millionaire Raffle.

Visit the Lotto Results page to find a list of the other 20 winning Lotto Raffle codes, worth £20,000 each, plus a full breakdown of all the Lotto prizes won.

Biggest Lotto Jackpot of the Year

The Lotto jackpot has now rolled over for nine consecutive draws, pushing it above £20 million for the first time this year. The previous high mark for 2018 came on Saturday 17th February, when Dennis and Shirley Banfield scooped £18.1 million. Dennis broke down in tears when he faced the media and said the windfall would set his family up financially forever.

When will the Lotto Jackpot Cap Be Needed?

There is now a good chance the Lotto jackpot cap will come into effect for the first time since Wednesday 27th December 2018. The maximum top prize is £22 million, and when the jackpot goes past this level it can roll over just one more time before it has to be won.

If nobody matches all six main numbers in the following draw, the full amount will be rolled down to the next tier in which there are winners. When the jackpot cap was hit just after Christmas, Gloucester taxi driver Amo Riselli ended up scooping £24.5 million just by matching five main numbers and the Bonus Ball.

The jackpot is likely to reach the £22 million cap if nobody wins on Saturday, and could then roll over just one more time on Wednesday. The jackpot would therefore have to be won in the following draw on Saturday 19th May.

EuroMillions Jackpot Winner in Austria

Saturday’s Lotto jackpot is worth even more than the current top prize in EuroMillions, after a single ticket holder from Austria matched the full winning line on Tuesday night to land £39.9 million. The EuroMillions jackpot will now reset to £14 million for Friday evening.

Whether you want to try your luck on Lotto, EuroMillions or both, you can take part now by visiting an authorised retailer or joining an online syndicate. Good luck!
