Lotto Player Lands £21 Million Jackpot to Become Year’s Biggest Winner

Last Updated: Thursday 7th June 2018, 14:03

A single ticket holder matched all six main numbers in Saturday night’s Lotto draw to win a phenomenal jackpot of £21 million. It was the largest prize to have been given away on the game all year, and brought an end to a sequence of nine rollovers stretching back to 7th April.

Lotto Results

The Lotto numbers drawn on Saturday 12th May were 1, 15, 21, 30, 35 and 44, with Bonus Ball 5. The lure of the huge jackpot attracted millions of players, and a total of 1,456,340 prizes were snapped up on an exciting night.

Three participants won £27,605 each after matching five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball, while other prizes ranged from a free Lotto Lucky Dip for matching two main numbers to £732 for matching five main numbers.

The winning code in the Lotto Millionaire Raffle was PLUM 3958 2466, rewarding the player with a matching ticket £1 million. Go to the Lotto Results page for a list of the other 20 Lotto Raffle codes, worth £20,000 each, plus a full breakdown of all the prizes won in Lotto.

Champagne on Ice for Jackpot Winner

The hunt is now on for the latest jackpot winner. Andy Carter, the National Lottery’s Senior Winners' Advisor, said: “After two £9 million Lotto jackpot winners in the last couple of months we now have a single ticket holder who has banked a massive £21 million. All players are urged to check their tickets to see if they are a Lotto jackpot winner and don't worry - we have enough champagne on ice ready to celebrate."

Lotto winners have 180 days from the date of a draw to come forward and claim their prize so there is no immediate rush, and many winners prefer to get their head around the news or let the media hype of a big win settle down before they contact lottery officials. However, it is advised that all players check their tickets before they forget and keep them safe if they are due a prize. The Lotto Checker will also tell you whether any entries you have purchased in the past 180 days are worth a prize.

The best way to make sure that you will not miss out on a prize is to play online, as you will be automatically notified of any win. The majority of prizes will also be paid directly into your account, allowing you to enjoy your winnings straight away.

Next Lotto Jackpot

A rollover on Saturday would have pushed the jackpot past its £22 million cap and sparked even more excitement, but fans can now dream of following in the footsteps of the latest winner. Every combination of numbers has an identical chance of winning so it could just be another lucky player’s day in the next draw. You could even decide to join an online syndicate to boost your chances of winning Wednesday’s £1.8 million jackpot.
