A Mad Money lottery scratch card launched by the California Lottery is offering not only cash prizes but also a whole range of Hollwood related prizes that many will view as being even more valuable.
The new Mad Money game was launched in association Overture Films which has just produced a movie of the same name. The movie was directed by Oscar winner Callie Khouri and stars Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes. It tells the story of three Federal Reserve employees who plot to steal cash that is scheduled to be destroyed.
The scratch card costs just $1 and gives players a chance to win cash prizes worth between $10 and $1,000, but it’s the “second chance” prizes that are the talk of Tinsel Town. These include:
• A trip for two to the Los Angeles premiere of Mad Money.
• A trip for two to an Overture Films premiere in the future.
• A visit to the set of Overture Films to see a production in progress.
• A walk-on role in a movie.
There are also several lesser prizes with a Hollywood flavour, including DVDs, autographed posters and subscriptions to the Starz movie channel.
California Lottery Direct Joan Boruki explained why they decided to create the Mad Money scratch card: “When people think of California, they think of Hollywood, which is why the California Lottery is thrilled to enter into a new partnership with friends in the movie industry, Overture Films,” she said. “Mad Money is a great tie-in for our products!”
The odds of winning a cash prize from a Mad Money scratch card are 1 in 11.96, whilst the odds of winning any prize are 1 in 5.45. With lottery players in California being particularly interested in the movie business, it is likely that this new scratch card is set to become a box office smash.
