Millions and Millions

Last Updated: Friday 16th January 2015, 10:17

Texas Lottery A Millions and Millions scratch card bought on a whim resulted in Texas Lottery player David Selle winning a top prize of $3 million. David had stopped at a store to buy tickets for the MegaMillions draw, but decided to purchase the $30 Millions and Millions scratch card to pass the time.

After looking on the reverse of the ticket to see what the lowest prize was, he started scratching, thinking that he had a good chance of winning $40. But instead he ended up winning the first of four $3 million dollar prizes that the game offers.

“I called my sister,” David said on the day after his win. “Then I called my boss and asked for a day off. I knew I wouldn’t get much sleep last night.”

The Millions and Millions scratch game has around 3,636,000 million tickets in play and offers four top prizes of $3 million as well as thousands of other prizes of between $30 and $20,000. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 2.43.

David Selle does a lot of travelling as he goes about his job, which he has had for 27 years, and was scheduled to set out to Las Vegas shortly after the win. With no time to waste, he headed straight to Austin, Texas to formally claim his prize.

“Mr. Selle obviously enjoys travelling,” said Anthony Sadberry, who is the Executive Director of the Texas Lottery Commission, “and we hope his win will help him enjoy his upcoming trip.”

This isn’t the first time that David has been lucky with scratch games, but it is his biggest win. Previously he has won up to $1,000 from scratch cards. He has also matched four numbers from five in the Cash 5 lottery game.

Gunny’s Lakeside Grocery store, which sold David his winning Millions and Millions ticket, receives a $10,000 bonus for doing so.
