A single ticket holder succeeded in matching all six numbers in Saturday night’s UK Lotto to scoop the rollover jackpot of £7,959,312.
Early approximations had put Saturday’s top prize at £7 million but a surge in ticket sales at the last moment helped the actual jackpot on the night rise by almost £1 million.
The additional ticket sales meant good news for prize winners in the lower tiers too, as the seven players who matched all five main numbers and the Bonus Ball shared a total prize fund of £479,675, equating to £68,525 each, which was more than double the prize fund from the same tier on Wednesday.
In the remaining prize tiers, 176 ticket holders matched five main numbers to win £2,314 each followed by 12,448 ticket holders who matched four main numbers to win £173 each. Finally, 269,646 players matched three numbers to win the new set prize of £25.
In addition to the main prizes, the rollover meant that the number of Lotto Raffle prizes increased by 50, giving a total of 100 lucky players £20,000 each.
