Three Jackpot Winners in UK Lotto Draw

Last Updated: Monday 16th June 2014, 13:01

lottoSaturday night’s UK Lotto draw saw three lucky players hit the jackpot and win more than £1 million each when they matched all six main numbers drawn. The three winners shared a prize pool of £3,515,436 for matching the numbers 3, 5, 8, 10, 16 and 17; the Bonus Ball from the draw on Saturday night was 46.

The numbers turned out to be lucky for almost half a million players as 478,693 prizes were given out on the night. The second largest prize was worth £34,347 which five players each won for matching five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball. Following them, 699 players won £208 each for matching five main numbers.

One notable and unusual feature of the draw was the prize awarded to winners in the lowest two tiers; the 30,503 winners in the Match 4 tier were awarded the same £25 prize as the 447,383 winners in the Match 3 tier. Following a rule change in October 2013, the Match 3 tier has carried a guaranteed prize value of £25 and never before have players in both tiers received the same value prize as typically, Match 4 winners receive a much higher prize. However, due to the pari-mutuel nature of UK Lotto prizes the value of each tier can fluctuate and while this did not go in the favour of the Match 4 winners on Saturday, this is not a common occurrence.

As Saturday’s draw was a rollover, the additional UK Lotto Raffle was offering 100 prizes of £20,000 to anyone who matched one of the unique codes drawn. A list of all 100 winning codes can be found on the UK Lotto Results page.

The next UK Lotto draw takes place on Wednesday and offers players an estimated jackpot of £2.1 million. However, if you can’t wait until Wednesday, the next EuroMillions draw takes place a day earlier and is offering players a £25 million (€31 million) jackpot. Tickets for both games can be purchased online by following the Lottery Tickets tab or in person from an authorised retailer.
