Last Updated: Monday 29th June 2015, 10:18

Residents who play the People’s Postcode Lottery in the SL3 7 area of Slough, Berkshire were celebrating this weekend after their sector was selected as the winner of June’s £2 million Postcode Millions prize. A single player grabbed a six-figure top prize, thanks to SL3 7HP being drawn as the full winning postcode for the month.

The winners were awarded their prizes at a party in the town’s Upton Court Park hosted by People’s Postcode Lottery representative Judie McCourt, who shared out amounts to 153 players, ranging from £1,712 up to the £400,000 pocketed by Deborah Lawrence.

Deborah is a mother of three and will celebrate on a family holiday to Majorca with her three children and two grandchildren. She has also pledged to help out her son Daniel and his partner, who are expecting twins, and to pay for Spanish lessons for her six year-old grandson Bruno. Chasing the sun on a long haul winter holiday in Africa or the Caribbean with her husband is also on the cards as a result of the big win.

Representatives from charities supported by the People’s Postcode Lottery were in attendance at Upton Court Park too and Deborah admitted that she started playing the game after seeing how valuable funding from such sources is whilst working with Age Concern. Another lucky ticket holder, Catherine Whitaker, claimed a £20,556 payout and said that she had been chatting to representatives from Missing People with a view to volunteering in the future.

A lucky participant from Slough also added a gleaming, new BMW 1 Series to their four-figure cash reward after having their ticket drawn out.

Elsewhere this weekend, the Street Prizes, worth £25,000 for every winning ticket in the postcode area drawn out, went to BH23 5BG in Christchurch, Dorset and PE13 4SL in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Winners included Brian Rickman, who intends to trade in his ancient Peugeot for an Audi, and Janet Hurst, who has promised to treat her four children, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren with her windfall.
