One lucky Lincolnshire grandmother has scooped the impressive £100,000 top prize in the Health Lottery after matching all five main numbers drawn. 66-year-old Alma Pullen matched the numbers 9, 13, 19, 22 and 28 on Saturday 5th July but didn’t discover her win until the following week while shopping.
While Alma browsed the aisles at her local supermarket, her husband and granddaughter took the ticket to be checked by a clerk. “My granddaughter ran up to me and said the amount of money was too big to hand out there and then,” said Alma, who realised she must have won a substantial prize. However it wasn’t until Alma finally rang the Health Lottery and spoke to a helpful representative that she realised she’d won the coveted top prize.
Alma, who works three days a week as a civil servant, said the money would be used to provide financial security for her and her husband and to buy some treats for her close family. Despite the big win Alma, who has worked in her current position for over 30 years, revealed that she has no plans to retire from her job. “I still intend to carry on as I enjoy it,” she said. “I love the social aspect of working.”
The Pullens have been playing the Health Lottery since October of last year and said it was the low ticket price and donations to health-focused initiatives which attracted them. “I shall definitely keep playing the Health Lottery. I like the fact that money goes towards worthy causes,” said Alma, “but I am probably going to have to change my numbers, I don’t think there is much chance of the same ones coming up again.”
The Health Lottery donates 20% of all proceeds to a variety of health-related good causes across the UK. Draws are held every Wednesday and Saturday and tickets cost just £1 per line. If you’d like to participate in the next game, follow the Lottery Tickets tab to find out how to play!
