Lotto Millionaire to Thank Shopkeeper with Holiday after Mistake

Last Updated: Tuesday 2nd July 2019, 10:27

A Chelmsford woman who landed a £1 million Lotto prize has thanked the shopkeeper who sold her the winning ticket after a mistake, which she believes made her dreams come true. Lynne Groves, a 57-year-old carer and grandmother of eight, won the top prize in the Lotto Millionaire Raffle on Wednesday 24th February, but only after a brief mix-up at her local store.

The shopkeeper initially printed off a EuroMillions ticket instead of the Lotto ticket she had asked for, and so she had to wait an extra few seconds to enter the draw she wanted. “I’m sure it was those precious moments that made me a millionaire,” said Lynne, who is convinced she would have received a different code had there not been a slight delay,.

Lynne now plans to show her gratitude by sending the shopkeeper on the holiday to Australia he has always wanted, as well as treating her family. “Winning means I can look after my nearest and dearest. This will give me more joy and happiness than any flash car or exotic holiday,” said Lynne to the BBC. She is also keen to visit Italy, buy the home she rents with her partner and enjoy her retirement.

The Lotto Millionaire Raffle works by generating one random code for every Lotto line purchased, consisting of a four-letter colour followed by eight numbers. One winning code is drawn alongside each Lotto game, guaranteeing that somebody becomes a millionaire in every single game even if the jackpot is not won. There are also 20 other Lotto Raffle codes drawn in each game worth £20,000 each. Lynne’s lucky code was LIME 6762 2101, and you can find all the recent winning codes in the Lotto Results section.

If you want to grab £1 million, you can buy tickets for tomorrow night’s draw by either buying tickets from an authorised retailer or playing online, which offers convenience and security and means you would not have to promise anyone a trip abroad if you won! Somebody is again guaranteed to grab £1 million in the Lotto Millionaire Raffle, while the Lotto jackpot also stands at a gigantic £12.7 million. Good luck!
