Snowflakes and Champagne for EuroMillions Mega Week Winner

Last Updated: Wednesday 23rd September 2020, 11:56

EuroMillions’ monthly Mega Week raffles continue to make dreams come true — this time rewarding one player with £1 million and a luxurious winter getaway to Zermatt.

On his way home from work last month, Jason Douglas–Smith, from Upminster, Essex, decided to take a chance on the final EuroMIllions draw before Christmas, picking up a ticket from his local shop. The 44-year-old electrician couldn’t believe his eyes at 5am the next day, however, when he noticed that the code printed on his ticket matched one of the five Millionaire Maker codes chosen in the special Mega Week raffle.

His luck was very real, however, and he will soon be boarding a business class flight to Zermatt, Switzerland, to enjoy a luxurious winter break — all expenses paid.

“If you’d told me at the start of the week that I would be a millionaire taking seven guests business class to Geneva, staying in a ski chalet where we would be fed and watered every day before heading off to ski, or ice–skate or even take a helicopter trip I’d have thought you were on the Christmas sherry,” said Jason. “But this gift has appeared and I’d be mad not to take it. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience, not something I could dream of doing on a regular basis, but believe you me, my family and I will savour every second of those seven days!”

Mega Week draws usually fall on the final Tuesday and Friday EuroMillions draws of each month, adding a little extra spice to the game’s already tantalising jackpots by upping the number of Millionaire Maker raffle prizes from two to five in each of the draws. Not only that, but each of the 10 winners also nets a luxurious non-cash prize along with their fortune, which in the last year have ranged from 100-day trips around the world to the Zermatt winter break that Jason — and nine other players — managed to pick up.

There are still a couple of weeks to go before this month’s Mega Week draws, which will be held on Tuesday 31st January and Friday 3rd February. But with a mammoth estimated jackpot of £53 million up for grabs this Friday, then the top-prize winner or winners would have more than enough capital to create a few Mega Week-esque experiences of their very own.
