Could You Be About To Miss Out On A National Lottery Prize?

Last Updated: Thursday 24th September 2020, 14:15

The UK winner of last Friday’s £15 million EuroMillions jackpot moved quickly to make a claim for their money, but unfortunately many prizes do expire and are redistributed by the National Lottery to the Good Causes Fund.

Deadlines Approaching

The deadline is approaching for claiming a number of large National Lottery prizes, including a EuroMillions ticket sold in Chester West and Chester which will no longer be valid after 11th November. The entry is worth £1 million after matching one of the Millionaire Maker codes on 16th May.

A Lotto Raffle ticket worth £1 million will also expire a day later, on 13th November. The ticket was bought in the metropolitan borough of Knowsley for the draw on 17th May, but the player is now in danger of missing out on their seven-figure reward if they do not come forward in the next few days.

All prizes in the UK must be claimed within 180 days of the draw date, and you can find a list of the latest big Unclaimed Prizes to make sure you don’t suffer a cruel twist of fate. You can also use the National Lottery Checkers to see any wins you could be due from the last six months.

One ticket holder who still has plenty of time left to claim their prize is the player from Coventry who won £1 million in the EuroMillions draw on Friday 13th October. There were 13 Millionaire Maker prizes awarded in a special edition of the game to mark the supposedly unlucky date, and 12 of the winners have already made their claims.

Carter Plea

Regarding the Coventry player, the National Lottery’s Senior Winners’ Advisor Andy Carter said: “We’re desperate to find this mystery ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings, this amazing prize could really make a huge difference to somebody’s life. We’re urging everyone who bought a ticket in this area to check their old EuroMillions tickets again or look anywhere a missing ticket could be hiding, so that this prize can turn someone into the newest member of the lottery millionaire club.”

Players have also been urged to check their pockets, wallets and bags for the missing ticket, with Carter saying the ‘champagne is on ice’ for the big winner.

One way to make sure you would never miss out on a prize is to play online, as your numbers are safely stored and you will be paid out automatically. You do need to collect bigger prizes in person, but will be notified of any win and guided through the process.
