EuroMillions Makes History As Jackpot Passes £200 Million

Last Updated: Wednesday 6th December 2023, 11:51

For the first time in EuroMillions history, a jackpot of more than £200 million will be on offer in the next draw on Friday night.

It is the biggest lottery prize that has ever been available in the UK, and millions of players from the country are set to chase the record-breaking amount.

The exact value of the jackpot will be determined on the day of the draw based on the exchange rate, with €240 million set to be converted into pounds. That figure of €240 million represents the most that can currently be offered in EuroMillions.

It has reached its limit after the biggest Superdraw ever was scheduled for last Friday. The jackpot has rolled over since then, including on Tuesday night when nobody matched the full set of winning numbers - 4, 6, 20, 24 and 25, with Lucky Stars 5 and 9.

Tuesday’s draw was still a success for more than 900,000 UK ticket holders who picked up prizes. Two UK players won £100,913 after matching all five main numbers and one Lucky Star, while another scooped £1 million after matching the Millionaire Maker code of VPCN 94730. Biggest Jackpot Ever

If the jackpot is won in the UK on Friday night, it will also set a new national record, going past the £195 million that was paid out to someone in July 2022. That lucky winner came forward quickly to claim the money, but opted to stay anonymous.

With the jackpot now set to reach its cap, it means there is guaranteed to be a winner in the near future as it can only stay at its maximum amount for a limited period of time.

In fact, the top prize is only allowed to stay at €240 million for four draws before it then has to be won in the following draw.

If required, a Must Be Won draw will be held and the jackpot could be divided between players who have not even matched all the numbers. This could potentially happen on Friday 22nd December if there is not a winner before then, setting up the possibility of a momentous draw just before Christmas.

Remember to check your EuroMillions tickets every time you play, and come forward to claim prizes within 180 days if you win. Pick your numbers for the next draw now, either online or by going to a local retailer.
