EuroMillions Winner Eyes New Hip, Car and Golf Clubs

The dream shopping list of every big lottery winner would be different, but for one lucky EuroMillions player from Durham one of the first priorities will be a hip replacement. Kevin Piper, from Durham, says the operation will allow him to pursue his passion for golf and enjoy a bright future, after scooping over £1 million last month.
The bar manager, 55, landed one of the Millionaire Maker prizes on Tuesday 21st February, and opted for the cash alternative rather than the Mega Week holiday to Hawaii. Now £1,093,000 richer, he will jet off to Thailand this week for a pre-arranged holiday and start to think carefully about how he wants to invest his new-found fortune.
“I will just take my time,” he told reporters. “This is all so much to take in and it still doesn’t seem real. I think a new set of golf clubs and a new car will also feature high on the shopping list.” Speaking about his hip problems, Kevin added: “Now I can go private rather than wait for a long time on the NHS. I used to play golf and once I have the operation I will be able to get back to the game I love.”
While Kevin was overjoyed to win, he still went straight to work when he found out as he did not want to let his colleagues down. He celebrated with a glass of water rather than champagne, saying he would ‘rather spend money on a nice car’, and plans to carry on playing Lotto and EuroMillions in a bid to win again.
Kevin is the latest in a line of big National Lottery winners to have come forward over the last few weeks. Best friends Lolly and Polly recently claimed a Lotto jackpot of £15.3 million, while Bradford mum Beverly Doran scooped £14.5 million on EuroMillions.
There will be more chances to snap up great prizes this weekend, with a EuroMillions jackpot of £42 million up for grabs tonight and Lotto offering £10.3 million tomorrow. If you fancy becoming a millionaire, you can pick your numbers online now or pop along to any authorised retailer. Good luck!
