Lotto Player Wins £7.9 Million Jackpot in Time for Mother’s Day

Last Updated: Monday 12th March 2018, 10:20

Someone’s mum could well have had the Mother’s Day of her life over the weekend, after a Lotto player scooped a £7.9 million jackpot on Saturday 10th March. The lucky player matched the winning Lotto numbers to clinch the double rollover sum, which would have allowed them to treat their mum, dad, brothers, sisters and anyone else they fancied inviting, to a slap-up celebratory meal with lashings of champagne.

Lotto Results for Saturday 10th March

The winning Lotto line was 3, 7, 36, 42, 53 and 59 with Bonus Ball 50, and more than a million ticket holders picked up prizes ranging from a free Lucky Dip ticket for matching two main numbers to £1,465 for matching five main balls.

In addition one player picked up the £1 million Lotto Millionaire Raffle top prize and 20 more collected £20,000 in the second tier. To find the winning raffle codes and a full Lotto prize breakdown, take a look at the Lotto Results page.

Lotto Jackpot Winners

There has yet to be a confirmed claim for Saturday’s prize, so it is not yet know whether it was an individual player or a Lotto syndicate. Whoever the ticket holder is, they are the second Lotto jackpot winners in a fortnight, following the £6.7 million success on Wednesday 28th February.

Three draws previously to that, Dennis and Shirley Banfield, a couple in their eighties from Bristol, celebrated winning £18.1 million on Saturday 17th February.

Best Time to Become a Millionaire?

Anyone looking to add a seven-figure sum to their bank balance would do well to enter this Wednesday’s Lotto draw. As your Lotto Millionaire Raffle odds are dependent on the number of other people playing, you stand a better chance of success in less popular draws.

More people enter Lotto on Saturday and when the jackpot has rolled a few times, so playing in a Wednesday draw at the base jackpot of £1.8 million, like the upcoming midweek game, maximises your opportunity to pick up the £1 million top prize or one of the 20 £20,000 awards.

Buy Lotto Tickets

You can buy Lotto tickets at retailers around the UK up until 7:30pm on the day of the draw. Why not improve your odds even further by playing as part of a Lotto syndicate this week? Use the link on the Lottery Tickets page to join one of these online groups.
