Record EuroMillions Jackpot Up For Grabs

Last Updated: Monday 4th July 2022, 09:46

Just two months after Joe and Jess Thwaite won the largest lottery prize ever seen in the UK, the EuroMillions jackpot has already surpassed their £184 million record.

A rollover on Friday 1st July pushed the top prize up to an estimated £186 million for the next draw on Tuesday night. There is room for it to grow even higher, with the jackpot cap of €230 million (approximately £198 million) potentially set to be triggered by Friday.

If the jackpot is won by a single ticket purchased in the UK, they will overtake the Thwaites at the top of the chart. Any big winner will have the option to stay anonymous or go public.

While the Thwaites decided to share their story, saying they did not feel they could keep it a secret, the majority of winners keep their identities private.

Another UK player won a £54 million jackpot on 10th June. They came forward a few days later to claim the money and no more information has been revealed about where the ticket was sold, or even whether it was an individual or a syndicate.

The jackpot has surged back past £184 million within a few weeks of that most recent win. A Superdraw on 17th June boosted the top prize to £11 million (€130 million) and it has been rising rapidly ever since.

What To Do if You Win the Record Jackpot

You can see the winning numbers straight after every EuroMillions draw, or use the Ticket Checker to find out how lucky you have been.

If you discover that you’ve won a major prize, possibly even the jackpot, you have 180 days from the draw date to stake your claim.

If you’ve played online, there’s no worry about your ticket getting lost or damaged, so you can contact the National Lottery when you are ready to start the claims process. If you’ve bought your ticket in-store, sign the back of it and keep it in a safe place.

After contacting the National Lottery, the next stage is the validation appointment. You’ll meet with an experienced advisor and get to ask any questions. Once the win has been verified and the paperwork complete, the money will be paid to you within a few days. You can then start to enjoy life as a EuroMillions jackpot winner!

To take part in the eagerly-awaited draw, you can pick up a ticket from any authorised National Lottery retailer or choose your numbers online.
