Set For Life Super Chance Draw Yields Two Jackpot Winners

Last Updated: Wednesday 23rd September 2020, 13:52

The jackpot prize for annuity lottery Set For Life has finally been won – by two lucky players. The draw on Thursday night was a Super Chance draw, which improved the odds of winning £10,000 a month for 30 years.

The Set For Life numbers drawn on Thursday 24th May were 15, 21, 31, 44, 45 and a Life Ball of 3.

Since Set For Life’s launch in March, no one had won the top prize by matching all five main numbers and the Life Ball – sparking criticisms of the lottery from players on social media.

Two players matched the five main numbers on Thursday, which would usually yield a second prize of £10,000 a month for one year. However, the Thursday draw was the very first of a new  Set For Life special draw, called a Super Chance draw.

Super Chance draws, held occasionally throughout the year, allow the jackpot prize of £10,000 a month for 30 years to be won by matching the five main numbers, as well as by matching the five main numbers and the Life Ball. During a Super Chance draw, the odds of winning the main prize are increased to 1 in 1,533,939.

The senior winners’ advisor for the National Lottery, Andy Carter, had this to say of the Super Chance win: “Tonight’s Set For Life Super Chance draw is one to remember as we crown the very first top prize winners – two of them, in fact, who have each won an incredible £10,000 a month, every month for 30 years. In tonight’s Super Chance draw, no player matched five main numbers and the Life Ball, but two players who matched five main numbers are now set for life.”

The two Set For Life winners are yet to come forward, and a lottery spokesperson has urged players to check their tickets.

What is Set For Life?

Set For Life is an annuity lottery, introduced by the National Lottery in March 2019. Your objective is to match five numbers and an additional Life Ball number against those randomly chosen in the draw. There are eight prize tiers, starting with £5 for matching two main numbers. Matching all five numbers and the Life Ball wins you the top prize.

Set For Life is the first UK lottery to offer an annuity prize. An annuity is an instalment-based payment programme, where you receive regular payments that amount to the prize you have won – in the case of Set For Life, £10,000 a month for 30 years. This prize model is popular with major lotteries in America, such as Powerball and Mega Millions. Set For Life can be played by visiting any authorised retailer, or online.
