UK Players Enjoy Winning Weekend on Lotto and EuroMillions
Last Updated: Monday 20th February 2017, 09:46 am
It was a sensational weekend for National Lottery players, as the EuroMillions jackpot was won in the UK for the second time in a row on Friday night, and then 24 hours later a Lotto ticket holder snapped up a stunning top prize of £15.3 million.
Tuesday’s EuroMillions triumph was the UK’s first jackpot success since a number of changes were made to the game last September, as a £39.9 million prize was split with one other participant from Belgium. The winning streak continued on Friday, as a UK player matched the numbers 19, 25, 33, 36 and 48, plus the Lucky Stars 2 and 9, to win £14.5 million.
It has been confirmed that claims have already been made for both of the EuroMillions jackpots won inside the last week, as attention now turns to the next draw tomorrow night and whether the UK can land the top prize for a third successive time.
The Lotto jackpot had been climbing for five draws ahead of Saturday night, but a single ticket holder managed to scoop the full £15.3 million after matching all six main numbers. The numbers drawn were 11, 13, 21, 37, 49 and 59, with Bonus Ball 4. Another three players won £28,352 after matching five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball, while over 1.3 million participants picked up prizes in total.
